Jailbreaking is the iPhone user’s substitute to rooting, the reason for hacking the iOS is so that can install third party apps and make configurations to the mobile OS that Apple by default locks on their devices.
You are most likely here because you have a jailbroken device that you want to reverse. Here you will learn how to unjailbreak your device. There are a couple approaches to how you can handle this. You will learn them all step by step.
Compatible For:
- iPhone
- iPad
- iPod Touch
Before attempting to unjailbreak your device. You should backup to either through iTunes or iCloud just in case.
Method 1: Factory Resetting with PC:
- Run iTunes on your computer.
- Plug your device into your computer.
- Backup your device with iTunes.
- Factory reset your device with iTunes.
- Re-sync your device.
What this does: When you factory reset your device. This deletes everything and brings it back to factory settings. But once you re-sync it will put back everything on your app except the jailbreak. I did this and was able to unjailbreak iPhone 6 Plus within 1 hour. But if there is a new iOS version out. iTunes will make you update to be able to reset.
Method 2: Unjailbreaking With Tweaks:
- Launch the “Cydia” app.
- Search for “Cydia Impactor” and install it.
- From your home screen run the “Cyda Impactor” app.
- The app will run delete all traces of jailbreak from your device.
What this does: This app was created by a third party developer. What this app will do is reverse the jailbreak from your device. The great thing about this is that you will retain all your previous settings and keep your current iOS version. I tested this as well to unjailbreak iPhone 5 and it worked out.
By this point in the process you should have brought your device back to the settings you had before you hacked your device.
