5 Useful Android App Store Alternatives

Mobile has taken the world by storm. Did you know that there is more then one app store for android? Although Google Play is currently the market leader. There are alternatives that are upcoming and slowly making a name for themselves.

Its always nice to have more choices. You should have the option to choose where you want to download your apps from. Most people don’t know that alternatives even exist so they just use the default Google Play Store. But luckily you found this resource so that you can use it to find out about other the other options.

F-Droid

F-Droid is a repository of free applications. This store might be the largest selection of open-source android applications out there. All you need to do is download the APK and install it.

GetJar

GetJar is another great option to Google Play. I counted 23 different categories of applications. Installing is very easy and they even have an “AppDay” feature. Where they partner with select developers to bring you free mobile apps for that day. You get new options everyday. So that you never get bored.

APKMirror

This is one of my favorites because you can even download older versions of any application that you find. So if you for some reason like an older version of facebook or something you can now get it.

Amazon App Store

Almost everything available here is also in the Google Play Store. You will need to create a free amazon account to use the Amazon App Store. I tried it out and can say there are a decent number of applications available to download in a variety of categories.

Opera Mobile Store

The Opera Mobile Store was developed by the people behind the Opera Web Browser. This store features not just android , but also blackberry, ios, html 5, java, symbian, and even windows applications.
